Today's Word
1 John 4:18
“There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love.”
Reflection
Fear and love struggle to occupy the same space. When one grows, the other vacates the room. A heart full of fear leaves little room for love to enter; once love fills it, fear is pushed aside.
The verb is firm: love "drives out" fear. Fear does not quietly fade — it is forced out. And that force comes not from your willpower to overcome fear, but from the weight of the love you are receiving. Love enters first, and fear has to step aside.
If a fear presses on a corner of your heart today, before wrestling to expel it yourself, first consider what love you are held within. Fear loses its place to stay when love fills the room.
