Prayers
A Prayer for Comfort and Peace
On the days when your heart feels unsteady, the words for prayer don't come easily. When you're unsure what to even ask for, you may sit in silence. But comfort doesn't begin with a perfect sentence. It begins the moment you set down a trembling heart, just as it is.
Rather than forcing your anxiety and fear into stillness, you can carry them as they are. The prayer and verses below will open that first line for you. Read slowly, and lay down today's weight one line at a time.
Prayer
A Prayer for Anxious Moments
God, my heart is racing and my breath is shallow.
For a moment, I pause before You.
Breathing in deeply — God. Breathing out slowly — I let it go.
This anxiety will not last forever. God is forever. Amen.
For an Unsteady Heart
God, my heart is unsteady.
In this moment, when I don't know what to hold on to, I hold on to You.
Even as I waver, let me remember the love of God that never changes. Amen.
Laying Down Worry
God, I lay down before You the one worry pressing on my heart.
Keep me from trying to control what I cannot, and let me trust God's leading. Amen.
