Psalm 23:1

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalm 23:1 (Berean Standard Bible)

Reflection

A shepherd knows where the grass grows and where the water runs. The sheep doesn't reason it out; it simply follows. When David called himself a sheep, there was relief underneath the image — the freedom of not having to calculate every step of the road ahead.

"I shall not want" doesn't mean having everything. It means being filled with what you need, when you need it — a peace of a different texture than abundance. Even with little in hand, the road is never barren when the Shepherd walks beside you.

Bring to mind the place where you feel lack today. Ask whether it is true scarcity, or simply a need whose time to be filled has not yet come. The Shepherd's steps are always one ahead of the sheep.
