Philippians 4:6-7

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 (Berean Standard Bible)

Reflection

Paul wrote this letter from prison. From a place overflowing with reasons to worry, he set down the words, "Be anxious for nothing." It wasn't ease that produced them, but the discovery of something to hold onto regardless of circumstance.

That something is prayer — not prayer that only asks, but prayer mixed with thanksgiving. When you count what you've already received even before the answer comes, the center of gravity in your heart shifts from lack to fullness.

The promised result is not the solving of the problem but a peace that guards the heart. The situation may stay the same while the inner person carrying it is changed. Lay down the heaviest single thing in prayer today.
