Today's Word
Matthew 6:34
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.”
Reflection
Jesus didn't say not to prepare for tomorrow. He said not to worry about it in advance. Preparation and worry are different. Preparation is what you can do today; worry drags a time not yet here into the present and adds its weight.
There is a quiet mercy in the words that each day's trouble is enough for the day. It is permission to carry only one day's load. You don't need to shoulder tomorrow's portion today.
If your heart keeps racing ahead, aching over what hasn't happened, bring your gaze back to today. Lay your hand on the one thing today asks of you.
