Today's Word
Ephesians 5:28
“In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.”
Reflection
The standard given to husbands is "as their own bodies." We do not hate ourselves. When hungry, we feed ourselves; when hurting, we tend ourselves — without being asked. Love a wife that way, Paul says. He frames love not as a feeling but as a habit of care.
The one who loves his wife loves himself. Underneath lies the vision of two becoming one. This is not a contest where I rise by pulling the other down, but a bond where I come alive as the other flourishes.
Think of one thing you could offer the person beside you today — as naturally as you would care for yourself. A hand extended without being asked is closer to love than any grand declaration.
