Today's Word
Hebrews 13:5-6
“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?””
Reflection
The promise doubles its denials: never leave, never forsake. To say it once would have been enough, yet it is said twice — a recognition of how easily the human heart wavers.
People know what leaving feels like. Having lived through relationships that stayed when things were good and drifted when trouble came, we struggle to trust the words "I won't go." This promise is offered fully aware of that doubt. It is a vow not to withdraw even when the conditions turn.
If your heart tightens today at the fear that someone might leave, remember there is One who will not be withdrawn. Even when every other hand lets go, one hand holds on to the end.
