Today's Word
Isaiah 58:8
“Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will come quickly. Your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.”
Reflection
"Your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will come quickly." Light and healing are promised together. The lifting of darkness and the mending of wounds come as one flow. Recovery reaches not one side but the whole.
The preceding verses speak of caring for neighbors and clothing the naked. Strikingly, the promise of healing is not aimed at me alone but tied to a life that tends those beside me. Light shines in the place of giving.
On a day you wait for recovery, don't bind your gaze only to your own wound. One step of caring for someone beside you may, unexpectedly, become the channel through which your own light breaks forth.
