Jeremiah 31:3
“The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving devotion.”
Reflection
The word that describes the length of this love is "everlasting" — a love with no beginning and no end. Human love swells and shrinks with conditions and moods, but this love is not bound to such shifting.
The phrase that follows is "drawn with lovingkindness." The way it pulls is not force but kindness. It does not drive you with fear but calls you near with tenderness.
