Today's Word
Matthew 6:25
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?”
Reflection
When Jesus says not to worry about food and drink, He is not calling those things trivial. He spoke to people who genuinely feared their next meal. This is not advice from someone unaware of need.
The point is that life is more than food. We often spend ourselves securing the means to live, and lose sight of the life those means were meant to support. While the mind fills with what to eat, the question of why we live quietly empties.
Name the worry that grips you most today. Before trying to make it disappear, ask what larger life it was meant to protect. A heart bound to small things loosens a little toward the greater one.
