Proverbs 11:2

When pride comes, disgrace follows, but with humility comes wisdom.
Proverbs 11:2 (Berean Standard Bible)

Reflection

Proverbs sets pride beside disgrace, and humility beside wisdom. When pride comes, disgrace follows; with the humble, wisdom is found. In a few plain words it shows what fruit each of the two roads bears.

Pride grows in the place where I assume I already know everything. That mindset closes the door to learning. The moment we decide there is nothing more to hear and nothing to correct, we are shut inside ourselves. Humility, by contrast, begins by admitting there is still something we do not know. Through that opening wisdom comes in.

Look back today on whether there was a moment your heart closed while listening to someone. Notice if there was a place where the certainty that you were right rose too quickly. The small humility of stepping back and asking again becomes the first step in opening a door that had been shut.
