Proverbs 13:22

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is passed to the righteous.
Proverbs 13:22 (Berean Standard Bible)

Reflection

Proverbs does not call what a good person leaves "wealth" but an inheritance — and when it reaches as far as grandchildren, what comes to mind is less an account balance than the way a person lived. Honesty and faithfulness are not visible heirlooms, yet they flow across generations.

When we think about what we'll leave behind, we usually start with what we can hand over. But what descendants remember longest is not what they received, it is what they saw. How a parent carried themselves in hardship, how they treated the weak — these are written without a word.

Consider what someone would learn if they watched your day. Before straining to leave something large, remember that one small choice today is already becoming an inheritance.
