Reflection

Houses and wealth are inherited from fathers, Proverbs says plainly. We gather some by effort, but often the very starting line is handed down from earlier generations. Yet a prudent wife is not placed on that list. She, it insists separately, is from the LORD.

Here a line is drawn between what can be inherited and what cannot. Property passes down, but a person's discernment and character are not something anyone can bequeath. The most precious companion stands in a place that no calculation can secure.

Bring to mind the people given to your life today. When you admit that a relationship was received rather than made by you, your heart grows a little more careful in how you treat them.
