Proverbs 22:15

Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him.
Proverbs 22:15 (Berean Standard Bible)

Reflection

To say folly is "bound up in the heart of a child" is not to belittle the child. It admits a plain truth: a growing person is still being shaped. A young heart naturally leans toward impulse and self, and that is less a failure than a starting point.

The rod is the hand that gives that starting point a direction. The discipline pictured here is not venting; it is teaching that drives folly far away. Pouring out anger and setting something right are not the same. Correction without love closes a heart; love without boundaries loses the way.

If you must correct someone today, first look at what lies beneath your own heart, anger or love. What you mean to drive away is not the person, but the folly that binds them.
