Today's Word
Proverbs 31:30
“Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.”
Reflection
To call charm deceptive and beauty fleeting is not to scorn beauty. It is a calm admission that these things do not last. Looks and allure both shift before time. Build a life on them alone, and it is easily shaken.
So the verse moves the gaze elsewhere, from what fades to what remains, a heart that fears the Lord. This fear is not dread but the posture of keeping him at the center of one's life, putting down roots in a place that time cannot wear away.
Consider today what you have used to measure yourself and others. Have you poured your heart into what quickly fades? What is worthy of praise is not the shining surface, but a heart that stays steady where no one sees.
