Proverbs 8:12
“I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.”
Reflection
In this verse wisdom speaks like a person. She says she lives in the same house as prudence, and keeps knowledge and discretion close by. It shows that wisdom is not cleverness standing alone, but something that dwells together with discernment and restraint.
Discretion is the heart that does not rush headlong but slows by a beat. Being smart is not the same as being wise. Wisdom shows itself where we discern when and how to use what we know. If knowledge is the material, wisdom is the carefulness of the hand that handles it.
If a moment comes today when you want to react quickly, pause for one breath. In that brief gap where you weigh once more how to rightly use what you know in this place, room is made for wisdom to enter.
