Today's Word
Psalm 119:50
“This is my comfort in affliction, that Your promise has given me life.”
Reflection
In the middle of affliction, the psalmist clings not to something that will change his circumstances, but to a single word. His comfort did not come from outside the trouble; it entered from within it, through the promise itself.
"It has given me life" carries weight. This is more than feeling a little better. It is breath returning where you were ready to sink down. The word does not erase the affliction, but it raises up the person who must endure it.
If your heart feels low today, look less for a move that will fix the situation and more for one verse to hold. You don't have to read for long. While a single sentence rests in your chest, what was collapsing pauses for a moment.
To keep one verse in your heart each day
