Today's Word
Psalm 32:7
“You are my hiding place. You protect me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah”
Reflection
David calls God his "hiding place" — somewhere to take shelter from threat. What's striking is that this refuge doesn't remove the trouble itself. The trouble still stands outside; what's provided is a separate place where you are kept safe within it.
And the promise that follows is unusual. It doesn't stop at shielding from trouble — it surrounds you with "songs of deliverance." Not hidden away in silence, but encircled by the song the rescued one will come to sing. The shelter becomes, in the end, the place from which praise flows.
If there's trouble you want to hide from, remember that this place is not the end. Beyond the time of being kept, there is a song you will one day sing over it. For today, it is enough simply to take one step inside the hiding place.
