Today's Word
Psalm 56:3
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.”
Reflection
This verse does not pretend the fear away. It first admits there is a "day when I am afraid." It is not a claim that faith leaves nothing to dread, but a confession that even on a frightening day there is something you can do.
That something is to trust. Fear and trust do not cancel each other out — you can reach out a hand while still trembling. David wrote this short line while held in the hands of his enemies, choosing trust not in calm but in the shaking.
Today, let the moment fear rises become a signal. Instead of straining to suppress the feeling, slowly recall in that very place: "I put my trust in You." Fear can be not the obstacle to prayer but its doorway.
