Today's Word
Titus 2:4
“In this way they can train the young women to love their husbands and children,”
Reflection
What Paul entrusted to Titus was not a lofty lecture on doctrine but the teaching of everyday love. Older women were to show younger women how to love their husbands and children. Beneath this lies an assumption: love is not something that simply pours out by instinct, but something learned and practiced.
Loving those closest to us is often harder than feeling warmth toward someone far away. In the familiar places where we bump into each other daily, love wears thin. That is why we need a way to learn from the example beside us — one generation taking the next by the hand and showing them how.
Consider today who taught you how to love the family around you. Then ask whether you might become that example for someone else. Beginning with one small kindness offered to a member of your household is enough.
