Today's Word
Hebrews 12:1
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us.”
Reflection
Faith is likened to a race. The first thing to do before a race is not to run but to strip off — to throw off every weight and the sin that clings. You cannot run far while carrying a load.
The way of running is "with perseverance." Not the burst of a sprint, but a long-enduring pace. The road of faith is a race where persistence matters more than speed.
Examine what weighs you down today. Before straining to run faster, first set down what must be set down. The lighter you are, the longer you can go.
