“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand.”
Reflection
He says "I give" eternal life in the present tense. Not something to receive after death but a gift given now. Eternal life, before it is a future reward, is a present possession.
"No one can snatch them out of My hand." The firmness of the holding hand is the heart of the promise. Not because I grip that hand tightly, but because His hand grips me, I am safe.
When your faith feels shaky, remember the ground of safety is not your gripping strength. That you are within a hand none can snatch from lays a firm floor beneath the wavering.
