Proverbs 27:17

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17 (Berean Standard Bible)

Reflection

"As iron sharpens iron." It's the image of a person shaping a person. What easily grows dull alone is sharpened within a relationship of mutual friction. Friction is not always a bad thing.

Sharpening iron requires another iron. Something soft won't put an edge on it. A relationship that refines me sometimes carries an uncomfortable honesty. That discomfort becomes the place of growth.

On a day you want to stay in only what's comfortable, recall the one person who sharpens you. A relationship that makes each other shine doesn't avoid friction but passes through it.
