Proverbs 9:10

Reflection

The beginning of wisdom is fixed as "the fear of the LORD." Not the volume of knowledge or sharpness of mind, but a posture before God is the starting point of wisdom. Direction comes first; information follows.

Reverence changes the coordinates by which you view the world. When you move from a place where I am the center to one where God is, the same facts read differently. The knowledge of the Holy One as understanding follows there.

If you know much yet often lose your way, examine the starting point of your knowledge. Wisdom grows not from more information but from the right reverence.
