Psalm 118:24

Reflection

"This is the day the LORD has made." Today was not given by chance but is a day He appointed. Even an ordinary-looking day holds the will of the One who made it.

So "we will rejoice and be glad in it" follows. You rejoice not because something special happened but because this day is a day received. The reason for joy is found not in events but in the day itself.

The more tedious and burdensome the day, the more this verse helps. When you remember today is a day appointed and given, a day you'd let slip becomes a gift received.
