A Prayer of Gratitude

Gratitude is not a reaction that arrives when circumstances improve. It's the practice of lifting your eyes to count what you've already received. When your gaze shifts from lack to fullness, the same day looks different.

To give thanks in everything doesn't mean every situation is good, but that there is one thing to be thankful for in every place. The first breath of morning, a single meal, a day made safe — start by counting the small things. The prayer and verses below open the door to gratitude.

Prayer

Closing the Day in Gratitude

God, I count the small things I received today.

Lungs that breathe, legs that walk, the people beside me, a warm meal — let me never forget these came from You.

In the ordinary I've grown used to, let me find God's love again today. Amen.

A Longer Meditation of Gratitude

God, I count the gifts I received today.

The seen — food, home, clothing, work. The unseen — health, peace, relationships, my own thoughts.

Everything I had grown too used to even notice, I confess as God's gift. Amen.

Entrusting This Day

God, thank You for the gift of this new day.

My steps and my breath, the people I'll meet and the words I'll share, the tasks ahead — I place them all in God's hands.

Even in the unsteady moments, let God's peace keep watch over my heart.

Walk with me again today. Amen.
