Psalm 136:1

Reflection

"His loving devotion endures forever" is the refrain that follows the opening line of this psalm. The ground of thanks is not my circumstance but His unchanging character. Because His mercy is everlasting, thanks cannot run dry.

The confession that He is good comes first. You give thanks not because of what you received but because He is good. Even on days you've received little, that goodness does not shrink.

If reasons for thanks are hard to see today, shift your gaze from what you've received to who He is. Gratitude built on everlasting love does not ride the tides of circumstance.
