Today's Word
Psalm 100:4
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and bless His name.”
Reflection
At the gate of approaching Him stands "thanksgiving." You don't enter empty-handed but carrying thanks. It pictures gratitude as the entrance to worship.
Entering His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise suggests a progression. A small thanks leads to deeper praise. One act of gratitude turns the whole direction of the heart.
On a day you begin prayer with a heavy heart, bring to mind one thing to be thankful for first. That single step opens a door that had been closed.
