Psalm 118:1
“Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever.”
Reflection
"Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good." The reason for thanks is not what's received but His goodness. You give thanks not because circumstances are good but because He is good, and that goodness does not change.
"His loving devotion endures forever" follows. Because His love is everlasting, the spring of thanks does not run dry. Even when today's portion is small, that everlasting love is not reduced.
On a day reasons for thanks are hard to see, shift your gaze from what's received to who He is. Gratitude built on goodness and everlasting love does not ride the tides of circumstance.
