A Prayer for Grief and Loss
Where a loved one has been sent off, words struggle to reach. Grief is not a feeling to be gathered up quickly, but a time you are allowed to dwell in fully. The One who is near to the brokenhearted does not turn away from those tears.
A prayer in the midst of loss does not deny the sorrow, yet holds onto the hope beyond it at the same time. The promise to wipe away every tear finally wraps around today's mourning. The prayer and verses below stay quietly by your side.
Prayer
A Prayer of Remembrance
God, I remember the time we shared.
The moments we laughed, the words left unsaid, the longing — I place them all within You.
May they rest in peace, held in God's arms. Amen.
A Prayer After Loss
God, the loss is great.
The longing, the regret, the words left unsaid — I spread them all before You.
Keep me from denying the grief, and within it, give me strength to go on living.
Let me remember that the time we shared was love. Amen.
