Today's Word
Psalm 23:4
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Reflection
Walking "through the valley of the shadow of death" doesn't make the valley disappear. David doesn't deny the valley. He only shifts the weight of fear with one line: "for You are with me."
The reason he fears no evil is not that the valley is shallow but that there is company. That the rod and staff comfort him means guidance and protection are present together.
If you are passing through the darkest road, rather than straining to light the dark, hold onto the One beside you. A valley walked together becomes bearable, though it is the same valley.
