Today's Word
1 John 1:9
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Reflection
To the promise that confessed sin is forgiven, the ground is added: "He is faithful and just." Forgiveness rests not on His mood but on His faithfulness. That is why it is an unshakable promise.
Confession is the act of bringing out what was hidden. Hidden, it weighs; brought out, it lightens. That He not only forgives but "cleanses from all unrighteousness" shows the depth of restoration.
When you're crushed by the self-reproach of having failed again, this verse reminds you the source of forgiveness is not your worthiness. To bring it out before the faithful One is enough.
