Today's Word
Colossians 3:23
“Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, as for the Lord and not for men,”
Reflection
"Work at it with your whole being, as for the Lord." It shifts the object of work from people to the Lord. Whether or not anyone sees, whether or not you're recognized, the quality of the work doesn't change — that's why.
Work done for people rises and falls with their evaluation. But work done for the Lord keeps one constant standard. The motive of work moves from approval to faithfulness.
On a day the heart cools to work because you're unrecognized, ask again whom the work is for. That the One watching is not a person adds weight to even the smallest task.
