Psalm 90:17
“May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish for us the work of our hands— yes, establish the work of our hands!”
Reflection
"Establish for us the work of our hands." It is a prayer that labor not scatter but stand firm. What is easily toppled by my effort alone, His favor establishes.
The preceding verses sing of the fleeting nature of life. In the middle of that transience, the psalm asks that the work of hands be made firm. It longs for eternal meaning to be laid over labor that must otherwise fade.
On a day you fear your effort may be in vain, entrust that work to the One who establishes it. When His favor is added to the labor of my hands, what would scatter becomes what remains.
