Today's Word
Isaiah 55:7
“Let the wicked man forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that He may have compassion, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.”
Reflection
The wicked are told to forsake their way, and the unrighteous their thoughts. To turn back not only in action but in the direction of thought. Repentance is not the correction of the surface but the changing of where you face.
At the end of the call to return, compassion and generous pardon are promised. He does not wait to punish the one who turns, but waits to welcome. At the end of turning is not judgment but an embrace.
When you feel you've come too far to return, this verse doesn't measure the distance. Turn the direction, and there is a compassion that welcomes you right where you are.
